The Wiggles Raise Their Voices With Anuna

29 April, 2010

Australian children’s supergroup The Wiggles are delighted to announce that they will be collaborating with Irish choral ensemble Anuna on songs for a new Wiggles Christmas CD and DVD due for release in 2011.  They will record four traditional Christmas songs including The Little Drummer Boy and Ding Dong Merrily on High, filmed against the backdrop of some stunning Irish locations.

The pairing has been met with great enthusiasm from both parties as confirmed by Blue Wiggle, Anthony Field: “Anuna paint beautiful musical pictures that have engaged me for many years now.  I know that children around the world will be enriched by hearing Anuna’s voices.  We’re all looking forward to filming in Dublin, which is one of my favourite cities in the world.”

Anuna’s founder, Michael McGlynn, adds: "The first time I saw The Wiggles was with my children.  What jumped out at me was the importance that they place on music and education in their work, and when the opportunity to combine our two, very different, forces arose I jumped at the chance.  At Anúna's core is the desire to bring choral music to the widest audience that we can, and I can't think of a better collaboration bearing this in mind. Love for high-quality music should begin at the youngest possible age, and I don't believe that any children's entertainers do this more successfully that The Wiggles."

The partnership with Anuna is the latest in a long line of collaborations which includes duets with Kylie Minogue, John Fogerty (Creedence Clearwater Revival), Rolf Harris and Leo Sayer.

After filming, The Wiggles head straight into their UK and Ireland tour starting in Belfast at the Waterfront Hall on 18th June before playing The Helix in Dublin on 19th June and Killarney INEC on the 20th.
