Simon grew up in Sydney and after finishing school studied Sports Science. After a year he decided to make a change and study acting. He was accepted into Theatre Nepean at the University of Western Sydney and graduated in 1993.
Simon has worked in television on shows such as, Water Rats, Home and Away and All Saints. He has also worked extensively in musical theatre over the past 20 years touring the world in productions such as, The Phantom of the Opera, where he played the title role of The Phantom, well over 100 times. In Cats, he played the role of Old Deuteronomy and he toured China in The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. Simon performed in the musical South Pacific a couple of times including starring in the movie with Glenn Close and Harry Connick Jnr. Other theatre credit include, The Witches of Eastwick, The Sunshine Club, The Villian of Flowers and even a stint at Opera Australia performing in the Opera of Fidelio. Simon has followed in his grandparent's footsteps, who were both highly accomplished and respected opera singers.
Simon’s relationship with The Wiggles started many years ago in the recording studio where he became one of their main backing vocalists. His bass voice can be heard on recordings such as Wiggle Bay, Wiggly Gremlins, Spaghetti Western, Top of the Tots, The Wiggles Go Bananas, just to name a few. In 2009, he performed the role of King John, in The Kingdom of Paramithi and then joined the Wiggles touring company in 2010, playing the role of Ringo the Ringmaster. His role as the Red Wiggle, has brought him the most joy.
On a personal note, his biggest news was getting married to his Lauren Hannaford in early 2017. Simon is excited about what the future will bring. Once again having the chance to meet children and families all over the world.
